John Constantine has set himself the task of saving the humdrum, workaday world that we live in from the occult powers that encroach upon it- making deals with (and waging war against) both heaven and the pit. He carries out his quiet, thankless task the only way he knows how- with the wits of a con man, knowing that by saving us he may damn himself, and burdened by the guilt of all the friends he's seen destroyed simply because their lives touched his. But then, life's a rough game, innit? No one gets out alive. John Constantine: Trying to describe the synchronicity highway is difficult-- it's like trying to bite your own teeth. You move and stand still at the same time. Road signs zoom past before you can read them, but you know where you're going without ever having traveled this way before. Having said that, I'm LOST again. Which-- as all experienced cosmic travellers know-- is exactly how it SHOULD be. I've let myself be hypnotized by the steady hum of traffic, but now I'm emerging into an awareness of self somewhere near the turnoff to my next destination. It's all up to me from here. Makes me wish I'd learned to bloody DRIVE, really... |
